Technical University Eindhoven and McCoy present new 2016 URE race car

The University Racing Eindhoven (URE) team has presented the new race car for the 2016 season. The new car is named URE11 and is a state-of-the-art electrical racing car developed for a specific challenge.

McCoy’s Technology group has been working with Technical University Eindhoven (TU/E) in recent months on an IoT (Internet of Things) based race control system for the 2016 University Racing Eindhoven Racing team. The URE race car is part of an intra university electrical car challenge, and is renewed every year in line with new regulations and of course technology.

URE and McCoy have developed a cockpit based on IoT, which goes as far as monitoring speed, G forces but also steering wheel positioning, brakes and cornering info and much more. This cockpit is based on IoT sensors that generate data which is processed in SAP HANA, hosted in our AWS cloud.

‘The initial tests show that the McCoy powered IoT solution works perfectly for our car’ says Kevin Kruijt, project manager URE. ‘Our cooperation with McCoy shows the power of applied IoT solutions in daily racing life’.

‘Supporting the TU/e with IoT is key for McCoy’, states Jeroen Elie, Manager of the Technology Business Unit at McCoy, ‘Also our people enjoy working with the URE team, which adds to both sides of the equation’.

McCoy will join URE on various racing events throughout Europe to support the racing team and of course cheer our student friends to victory. We will keep you posted on the progress!
