In 2022, our client in the semiconductor industry made a global transition to S/4HANA. This significant change also brought the need for a thorough cleanup of their data system. Therefore, they chose to implement Master Data Governance (MDG) to elevate data quality to a higher level. Thanks to our proven expertise in data management, McCoy was the ideal partner to take on this challenge.
The move to MDG was not only driven by the limitations of the old tool.
Our client had clear ambitions:
Improve data quality globally
Increase automation and minimize manual work
Enhance efficiency and user-friendliness within the procurement department
With our deep knowledge and experience, we collaborated with TCS to design and develop the MDG architecture. The transition to MDG was crucial not only for technical reasons but also to optimize data quality and further automate processes. McCoy was already a trusted partner, given our previous involvement in various aspects of the S/4HANA transition. Thanks to close cooperation with TCS, MDG successfully went live in February 2024.
From the very first MDG workshop, we worked closely with the Vendor Master team, who manage the tool and guide the key users. By adopting an iterative approach, key users could start working directly in the system, quickly bringing critical requirements to light. At the same time, we trained the end-users, ensuring a smooth adoption of the new tool.
Thanks to the excellent collaboration, the go-live went smoothly, with minimal issues. The old tool was immediately replaced, and the number of processed purchase orders increased right away. End-users can now work more efficiently and focus on what really matters. Moreover, the improved data quality leads to more reliable reporting.
The successful implementation has even led the client to consider bringing more objects under MDG.
