AI makes SAP more accessible with voice and natural interaction

On the shop floor, everything revolves around speed and continuity. Yet, operators and production staff still spend a lot of time on administrative tasks in SAP. Releasing orders, confirming production, or checking inventory often requires knowledge of transactions and screens, while the focus should be on the production process.

With the Shop Floor Assistant let's show that this can be done differently.

This AI assistant enables direct communication with SAP via voice or a user-friendly dashboard. Employees simply ask a question or give a command, after which the assistant retrieves the correct information or performs the desired action.

"What's on my schedule today?"

The employee asks a question. The AI assistant retrieves the information from SAP and, where permitted, directly performs the correct action.

Using SAP without being an SAP expert

Many organizations want to retain their SAP processes but simplify the user experience. Therefore, the Shop Floor Assistant does not replace SAP but serves as an intelligent layer on top of existing processes.

The AI understands natural language and automatically translates commands into the correct SAP transactions. As a result, employees no longer need to know where information is located or what steps are necessary to execute a process.

An employee might ask, for example:

  • "What's on my schedule today?"

  • "Release my production order.""How much inventory do we have left for this material?"

The assistant retrieves the information directly from SAP or performs the requested action, depending on the available authorizations.

Less administration, more focus on the work

By simplifying the interaction with SAP, the administrative burden is reduced and errors are prevented. Employees can focus on their primary tasks, while registrations are processed correctly and completely in SAP.

The solution is also more widely applicable than just the production floor. In logistics, warehouse management, maintenance, and other operational processes, the same AI layer can make existing SAP processes more accessible.

The most important lesson? The future of ERP is not about more complex screens, but about more natural interaction. With AI, SAP becomes simpler, faster, and more accessible for everyone who works with it.
