SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is SAP’s cloud-based Business Intelligence platform that provides a range of analytics and reporting tools. It is a fast-evolving product, which gets updated frequently. In this blog, Kris van Brouwershaven takes you through the main takeaways from the latest release for SAP Analytics Cloud: QRC Q3 2025-release, which happened on August 16-18, 2025.
Kris has been working with McCoy & Partners since 2020 and is specialized in SAP Analytics Cloud.
Note: This blog will keep Enterprise Planning out of scope.
This update brings a new home screen to SAP Analytics Cloud.
It gives the users more flexibility in what they want to see when they open SAC:
· Direct access to Learning Journeys and tutorials.
· Data Change Insights (Last 7 Days).
· JustAsk is centered and highlighted to encourage usage.
· Favorites, Quick Actions & Calendar Highlights are added.
Averages are a very common type of calculation, but sometimes not all numbers are equally important. When a ‘regular’ (arithmetic) average is not the right calculation, a weighted average could be.
Syntax: WAVG ([Measure1], [Weighted Measure],[Dimension1],...,[Dimension10])
Example when you want to calculate the average Sale Price of all products sold:
The Arithmetic (unweighted) Average treats all Sale Prices equally, ignoring the number of Units Sold.
Arithmetic Average Price
All Sales Prices added together, divided by the number of Sale Prices
= (€10 + €20 + €30) / 3
= €60 / 3
= €20
Weighted Average Price
Each Sale Price multiplied by its Units Sold, then all those totals added together, divided by the Total Units Sold.
= (€10 X 100) + (€20 x 50) + (€30 x 25) / (100 + 50 + 25)
= (€1000) + (€1000) + (€750) / 175
= €2750 / 175
= €15.71
With this update, we get the flexibility to turn Tooltips on or off on the Table widget.
In short, we get the following:
The re-introduction of the Threshold Tooltip for the Table Widget
A new (default) Tooltip for the Table Widget.
Show/Hide Tooltips
NOTE: If not already converted, you’ll have to convert the tables to the new optimized Table Build Experience. If you don’t do this, you will not get the option to show/hide the Tooltips!
This enables the users to launch a Microsoft Excel add-in workbook from a story.
The same model is used and the navigation state of the model is also retained.
Whether all filters are directly implemented in this file, remains to be seen.
When triggering this functionality, a download of an Excel-file is triggered.
This means it is a jump to Excel Desktop only.
NOTE: Currently, this only works for Data Actions (on Acquired Data)
We expect that these features will come to the Stories in the near future
This feature works two ways:
Select the script and click on ‘Generate’ to generate documentation.
Enter business-logic in your script and click on ‘Generate’ to generate the script for this logic.
After generation, you can accept or reject the generated script.
