SAP Analytics Cloud QRC3 2024 – Cross-page Popups, PPT Integration and new Calculation options!  

SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is SAP’s cloud-based Business Intelligence platform that provides a range of analytics and reporting tools. It is a fast-evolving product, which gets updated frequently. In this blog, Kris van Brouwershaven takes you through the main takeaways from the latest release for SAP Analytics Cloud: QRC Q3 2024-release, which happened on August 16th – August 18th 2024.

When creating a calculated measure or calculated dimension in SAC, you can now provide both a Name (ID) and a Description.  

The main use case here is to create multiple different measures, with the same description – keeping the names on your dashboard more unified.  

EXTRA ADDITION FROM SAP Analytics Cloud 2024.14: Dynamic Calculation Descriptions. 
The descriptions can be updated based on selected input values, giving you a dynamic name of your measure. 

NOTE: If a Description is not provided, the ID will be used.

With the updated Data Analyzer, you can:

  • Share Insights within SAC with other users.

  • Create a shortcut link, directly into an Insight without saving.

  • Chart Enhancements: improved responsiveness, improved data labels, adjusted scroll bars.

  • Additional Conversions available in the Calculations Dialog: DECFLOAT, DOUBLE, FLOAT, INT, FLOOR.

This is available in both the Stories, as in the Data Analyzer. In this example, the Data Analyzer is shown.

The calculations-area is also upgraded to have a ‘categorized layout’ with search capabilities and added grouping. These groups are [Business], [Conversion], [Logical], and [Mathematical]

The following new calculation capabilities are added:

  • CEIL(number)
    Returns the smallest real number that is greater than or equal to the specified number.

  • DECFLOAT(string/number)
    Returns decimal floating-point representation of the specified String/Number.

  • DOUBLE(number)
    Returns double floating-point representation of a specified number.

  • FLOAT(number)
    Returns floating-point representation of a specified number.

  • FLOOR(Number, Number of places after decimal point)
    Returns floating-point representation of a specified number.

  • INT(Number)
    Returns the integer part of a number. It removes all the decimal places.
    Valid integer values are from -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647.

  • ROUND(number, decimal_places)
    Rounds the number to the specified number of decimal places.

  • TRUNC(number, decimal_places)
    Truncates the number to the specified number of decimal places. 

  • LOG(number)
    Computes the natural logarithm of a positive number. 

  • LOG10(number)
    Computes the base-10 logarithm of a positive number.

PowerPoint Integration with SAP Analytics Cloud

This is the initial release of the SAC Add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint.
This add-in is a fully web-based offering, enabling the users to bring SAC widgets in PowerPoint presentations.

The biggest advantage: you can also refresh your data at any time: there is no more need to copy/paste the information from SAC into your presentations!
