SAP Analytics Cloud QRC2 2024 – New Presentation Mode and Replacement of Models!
SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is SAP’s cloud-based Business Intelligence platform that provides a range of analytics and reporting tools. It is a fast-evolving product, which gets updated frequently. In this blog, Kris van Brouwershaven takes you through the main takeaways from the latest release for SAP Analytics Cloud: QRC Q2 2024-release, which happened on May 17-May 19, 2024.

Replace/Repoint Models

Finally! This release allows us to change models in the Optimized Story Experience!
The known limitations are:
Old models can only be removed, not replaced.
Analytic Datasets cannot be replaced by Analytic Models (from Datasphere)
The replacement model must:
Be of the same Data Source Type.
Have the same number and type of ‘structure dimensions’.
Have a version that is the same or higher than the version of the original model.

Refactored HANA Analytic Processing Engine

With a recent update in HANA, the Query Analytic Processing Engine was upgraded.
With the 2024.06-update (since March 29th, 2024) all models are built using this engine. If you want to revert to the legacy solution, you can change that in the Model Preferences.
In theory, this new processing engine improves performance and reduces the load on the system, ensuring more processes can run simultaneously.
Note this option is not available when choosing a Live Model.
New Presentation Mode

This new presentation mode brings Digital Boardroom capabilities straight to your stories. It enables the following:
Presentation mode, including more customization options for the Toolbar, Default Viewer, Navigation Panel when presenting.
Import Story Pages, to create a presentation originating from multiple stories.
Building a Presentation Structure (Flat or ‘Tree’), with topics to show when presenting.
Also, this new presentation mode is full-screen, so it looks and feels more like a fully customized application when presenting.

Dynamic Font Size Scaling

Changing font sizes has always been a challenge. Some people like their fonts to be big, others want them small.
To accommodate users that want their texts bigger, with this new update it became available to adjust font scaling.
This enables the user to read texts in a bigger font, resulting in a better consumption of the texts.
NOTE: It’s only available for Responsive pages at the moment. Canvas will be added in the (near) future.
Extra Filter Options for Non-Time Based Dimensions

With this update, non-time based dimensions get the option to filter on:
Text Match: [Contains], [Begins with], or [Ends with]
Wildcards: Matches Pattern support for [*] (any number of characters) and [?] (a single alphabetical value in a specific position)
Restrictions: Exclude conditions that cannot be disabled or edited by viewers.
Upgraded Theme Settings to Accommodate IBCS

With each upgrade, Themes become more and more complete.
This update allows the users to build an IBCS-like Theme, with the following options:
Scale format (k/Thousand, m/Millions, bn/Billions).
Decimal Places for Absolute Values and Percentages.
Currency Formatting.
Subscribe to Data Change Insights & Extended SAP Mobile

With this update, users can subscribe to a ‘Data Change Insight’, but in Burst-mode.
The difference with before? Using the ‘Broadcast’, the story only looks at the authorization of the creator of the broadcast.
With ‘Burst’, the authorization of the receiver is taken into account.
Please note this has to be activated for each story individually in the Story Details before it can be used.
Upgraded Variable/Prompt Screen

With this update, the Prompt screen changes when opening the dashboards and Data Analyzer files.
The new view is a visually pleasing screen that allows the user to see more data at once.
