SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) is SAP’s cloud-based Business Intelligence platform that provides a range of analytics and reporting tools. It is a fast-evolving product, which gets updated frequently.
In this blog, Kris van Brouwershaven takes you through the main takeaways from the latest release for SAP Analytics Cloud: QRC Q2 2026-release, which happened on May 15th & 16th, 2026.
Note: This blog will keep Enterprise Planning out of scope.
With this release, a few new reasons to upgrade were introduced:
Asymmetric Reporting (is explained later in the blog).
Use the New Data Panel for an easier building experience.
You can choose whether you want to display totals on the Outer Dimension Members, or in the Classic Display.
To optimize your tables, you can either (1) build a new story, since it will be optimized there, (2) go to the Edit-mode in your dashboard and follow the popup as shown in the picture below or (3) manually optimize one table in your dashboard, the rest will be optimized as well.
This functionality was one of the bottlenecks of the current Smart Insights-functionality when working with a Datasphere Model.
Smart Insights will be available for more than 20 possible contributors, since it will be performed iteratively by a batch of 20 dimension attributes.
In theory this should fix the faulty Smart Insights-functionality from before, when working with a Datasphere Mode.
Also: You can now show Smart insights from a Table Cell too!
The current Excel Integration is strong; a user can build a pivotable directly in Excel, based on a model in SAC.
With this addition, the Pivot Table that has been created in the Data Analyzer can be opened directly in Excel, showing the same data (model and navigation state)!
Note that you’ll need to have the Add-on enabled and you have to be logged in.
With this release, SAC now offers the possibility to connect LIVE to:
Microsoft Azure SQL Database
Microsoft SharePoint Excel Files
Microsoft SharePoint Lists
Note, you’ll possibly need to activate these connections in your Open Connectors in SAC: Use SAP Integration Suite Open Connectors | SAP Help Portal
This is a more technical concept.
In symmetric reporting, your entire table follows the same structure.
Every measure uses the same hierarchy levels and shows the same dimension members, ensuring the table is consistent.
In asymmetric reporting, each column or row can follow its own structure.
Different measures can show different hierarchy levels or members, depending on what’s relevant for their calculation.
Example:
The goal: You want to see the Revenue of each Product, but the Margin should only be shown per Subcategory, based on a table like this:
With Symmetric Reporting, your table will look like this:
With Assymetric Reporting, your table could look like this, hiding certain values from certain dimensions:
This ensures your Table has less clutter and is easier to interpret.
The following limitations are known:
It’s only possible in Edit-mode, so an End-user cannot do this.
It only works on the ‘New Table Build Experience’
One Asymmetric Structure is supported per table.
It has no impact on the aggregations; These are visibility filters only.
Input Control Conflict: if a calculation input control uses an inner dimension, the visibility filter menu on that dimension is disabled
This release introduces Microsoft Teams as a possible Delivery Channel for the My Metrics Report feature. It will deliver notifications directly in Teams for faster insight access.
Note, this has to be setup properly, having for example:
The latest version of SAC
My Metrics Enabled
Users with authorization to share Metrics Lists
Users must both exist in SAC and in the MS Teams tenant
This is a new option in the Dynamic Filter dialog, that automatically calculates future periods within the selected timespan.
Within this Dynamic Time Filter, you get the following options:
(1) Range Type:
Standard ➡️Was already available, no changes here.
Standard with Offset ➡️Was already available, no changes here.
Rest of
Rest of with Offset
(2) Starting From:
Current/Next Day
Current/Next Month
Current/Next Quarter
Current/Next Year
(3) Rest Of:
Year
Quarter
Month
With this functionality you can, for example, create one measure that captures both your ACT and BUD. Both in one measure, having a Dynamic Date deciding when to apply ACT and when to apply BUD:
1. Create a Measure for ACT using the ‘Standard’-filter
2. Create a Measure for BUD using the ‘Rest of’-filter
3. Combine both using a simple Calculated Measure
We are used to the Builder- and Styling Panel in SAC. With this addition, a Data Panel is added. This Data Panel replaces the existing ‘Available Objects’-list.
Some of its key capabilities:
Overview of all models used in the story
Drag-and-drop support from the Data Panel into the Builder Panel, or even directly into visualizations!
Easier navigation and quick access by simplifying the Data-, Builder-, and Styling Panel.
Home Screen Upgrade: New Card for Blogposts
New Scales (Lakh & Crore)
API Scripts to show Hierarchy Leaves in Table Widges
New Supported features in the Lightweight Viewer-mode
Invalid Calculations Management
