This blog is related to SAP Analytics Cloud Deprecation Warning: Classic Stories & Applications, which we released midway through 2024.
With the latest release, SAP Analytics Cloud QRC1 2026, SAC announced that this quarter is your final chance to convert your ‘old’ Stories and Applications into Optimized stories.
When opening SAP Analytics Cloud after Monday the 16th of February, you will be prompted with this screen:
This means that you must optimize your old stories and applications, otherwise you will lose them permanently.
Luckily, upgrading is easy.
You can choose from one of 2 ways:
Use Story Conversion
Here, you can select all stories that have to be optimized.
2. Navigate to the stories that are not yet optimized, and select the ‘convert’ option when editing the story:
When you’re using the Story Conversion, it’s easy: only the stories, applications, and Data Insights that have to be optimized, will show up here.
When you’re navigating through your Folders, you can recognize the to-be-optimized items as follows:
The RED items are a deprecated Application and a deprecated Story.
The GREEN items are an optimized Story and a new Data Insight.
SAC announced that it must be done before the next Release, which is on the 17th of May.
With the new optimized story, we’ve encountered a few occasions where tables don’t work anymore.
Converting those tables to Optimized Tables was the trick here:
You will be prompted a screen where you can select whether to switch the tables in the current dashboard, or to create a full copy of the story.
Note 1: Your Measure and Dimension Input Controls may be required to be re-mapped.
Note 2: When using an Import-model, it’s no longer required to have the Category-dimension (e.g. ACTUAL, FORECAST, BUDGET) in your table.
This makes delta-calculations between the different categories possible.
This Optimized Table was introduced in the QRC3 2025 Release, and gives you the following benefits, as copied from SAP Road Map Explorer:
An available objects panel that allows you to easily customize the table layout
Assign dimensions to rows and columns
Select members of structure dimensions
Add calculations to your table
A new member selector dialog that provides a user experience aligned with chart filtering when defining filters for your table, including three tabs
Accounts (or measures)
Calculations
Input controls
Enhanced support for structure dimensions through dedicated feeds that can be assigned to rows or columns by dragging and dropping or directly from the available objects panel.
Flexible assignment of the version dimension to axes or filters without restrictions.
Display contextual error messages to guide you in resolving them if the system detects issues with the data query.
